If it is a black weather PAC connector comming out of the distributor it plugs into the one comming out of the firewall. If the one comming from the distributor is missing and there is only one comming out of the firewall and there is a vacuum advance on the distributor, someone replaced the distributor with an older style. They did this more than likely because those early computer ones were problematic, and hard to get working just right.
At the base of the distributor, there is a tab, with a bolt in it. Tightening or loosening this bolt, will do the same, with the distributor. The distributor, by the way, times the motor, so, you will need to retime it.
Bad relay? Loose connection?
Seized engine Discharged battery Loose or corroded battery cables Starter or starter solenoid Neutral safety switch
Your shift linkage may have slipped or become loose. Check your linkage.
Yes, a loose distributor can rotate so that the ignition timing for the engine is lost.
if the shaft is loose in the distributor, you either need to rebuild or replace distributor.if distributor itself is loose there is a bolt at the base of the distributor that holds it in place
take out the glove box, lower panel, under glove box and first to disconnect the heart hose, loose the lower panels, loose some bolt turn the core clockwise .pull it out
HEY MAN I DONT KNOW IF IT IS THE SITUATION....BUT MY 96 AND MY BOYS 92 BOTH HAD THIS PROBLEM.....MINE HAD A LOOSE GROUND WIRE ON MY ALT. AND HIS 92 HAD A LOOSE GROUND WIRE ON HIS BATTERY WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE FRAME...SO CHECK IT OUT
What engine you have would be helpful but, a bad distributor cap and rotor is one of many possibilities.
It would be helpful to know what year vehicle you have as there are two different ignition systems used on the Chevy Celebrity. Possible reasons for not getting spark in a distributor equipped engine: 1982 to 1986 Distributor cap or rotor defective Reluctor failed Pickup coil failure Ignition module failed wiring or plug in connections loose corroded or failed Coil failed, or coil wire to distributor failed No power to the distributor or coil Possible reasons for not getting spark in a distributor less system: 1987 to 1990 Failed crankshaft position sensor Failed ignition module Failure in wiring or engine computer
please tell me where this loose vacume hoes goes to on my caprice from the heater valve to where?
It certainly could. It would eat the gear on the cam that runs the distributor.
