Try replacing your speed sensor it controls both
If both the speedometer and the odometer work on and off, I would blame the vehicle speed sensor. If only the speedometer is acting up, I would blame the cluster.

You might have electrical problems with your 1998 Sebring because there is a problem with the main computer or "brain" of the vehicle. This could cause the wipers, gear shifter, and air bag to malfunction.

If your 2001 Jeep Commander randomly stopped working and won't turn on, you likely have one of two problems. Your battery is dead, or your alternator is dead.
If the speedometer is going on and off, then there is usually a connection that is coming loose. You can check the sensor that runs on top of the transmission and make sure that it is completely plugged properly. If it is barely off, then it can cause both your speedometer and odometer to stop randomly. Also you may try checking behind the dash board and made sure all of the connections are right. It is best to TRIPLE check all of the connections. Hope it helps!!!
I'm having problems with my all QX56 windows randomly going down.
Loose stabilizer connection, check the gauge stabilizer right behind the speedometer under the hood and see if it's loose. (Had the same problem with my '71)
