If a 10000 gal above ground pool the water is green and cloudy and added a pound of chlorine and run the filter 4 hours at night and did this twice no change help please?

get a test kit from local pool supplys and test follow directions will probably need 2 bags of "Shock"

To do so safely drain it and start over. You should get a water testing kit. It could be kids are peeing in the pool the ammonia build up can make it cloudy.

If your in-ground pool has a leak somewhere and muddy ground water has come in and the leak is fixed do you need to shock it to get it to clear up again while the filter is running?
If you use a test kit and your chlorine level is high I would say no, let the filter run and while the filter is running vacuum the bottom of the pool to remove some of the mud off the bottom of the pool floor and check the filter for high pressue, so the filter can do its job and get the pool clean. You want to keep your chlorine level above normal during the cleaning level so when the pool is clean your are ready to use it, also I do not know how brown or muddy the water is.

How do you make a cloudy green in ground pool clean again?
First of all increase the chlorine to the max Then add algaecide and scrub the sides and bottom of the pool with a stiff brush, this will loosen of the algae that is growing on the pool surfaces. Let the water circulate for a while cast a flocculate over the surface of the pool. turn the pump of for two days and set the filter to waste. after two days you will note that the water has cleared up and there is a layer of sludge at the bottom of the pool. Gently vacuum this to waste ( do not try to filter it) when its all gone set the system to filter and top up the pool. repeat if necessary.
