there can be two ways to cut a convex lens into two equal parts-- one, along the principal axis and another, perpendicular to the principal axis. If the lens is cut along the principal axis, then there will bo NO change in the focal length of the lens. But, if it is cut perpendicular to the principal axis, then the focal length will be twice the original one.

Length of a lens is the distance from the center of the lens to its principal focus?

It is called the focal length. It is equal to 1/2 times r, and is positive on concave mirrors and negative on convex mirrors.

Why the study was under taken of focal length of a convex lens by graphical method?

to determine the focal length of a convex mirror.

Which lens has a greater power convex lens of focal length 10 cm or a convex lens of focal length 20cm?

Power is inversely related to the focal length. So convex lens of focal length 20 cm has less power compared to that having focal length 10 cm

What is the focal length of the convex lens?

The distance from the centre of the lens to the focal point.

What happens to the focal length of convex lens when convex lens is cutted vertically along the optic center?

its focal lenght becomes 2f

Why a small focal length convex lens is used in simple microscope?

because manifying power has inerse relation with that of focal length

The relation between focal length and radius of curvature of spherical mirror is?

The focal length of a convex mirror is half of its radius of curvature.

What happens to focal length when convex lens is cut horizontally?

no change

Explain how the focal length changes as a convex lens becomes flatter?

The focal length of a lens is the distance from the center of the lens to the point at which it focuses light rays. The bigger the focal length, the more powerful the lens. ChaCha!

When do convex lens produce real image?

When the object length is less than the focal length

What is the positive lens is the same as?

The focal point F and focal length f of a positive (convex) lens, a negative (concave) lens, a concave mirror, and a convex mirror. The focal length of an optical system is a measure of how strongly the system converges or diverges light.
