Too many questions still unanswered to provide you with an answer. How old is the child? Has the "legal" dad been there full time, from day one, caring and nuturing this child and providing for it's support. What was it that prompted the "bio" dad to suddenly come to the realization that he wanted to be part of this child's life. It may not be so easy for "bio" dad to gain a foothold into the child's life. But it will happen over time, so try to put a good spin on it, for the child's sake.

Since you were adopted by another man at age 6 and now go by his surname I don't think you can be considered you biological fathers child in the eyes of the law now. Your biological fathers name is not on your birth certificate. You could try and see if social security would except a DNA sample from your biological fathers other children to prove that you are his child or maybe your biological fathers parents(this would be better) if any of them would do that for you.
