Once someone is infected with HIV, they are capable of transmitting the virus. Even when being treated for infection and viral levels have reached an "undetectable" level, the HIV+ person is still able to transmit the virus.
There are various studies and opinions about the reduction of risk when exposed to those who are HIV+ with undetectable viral loads. However, there is still some degree of risk involved.

∙ 14y agoOnce a person has HIV, you have to assume that it is always possible to be infected by them. How can you know on a day to day basis what their condition really is? The chances would certainly be less, but do you want to take the risk? Does the infected partner want to put his partner at risk and willing to accept the responsibility? We all make the choice for ourselves what risk we are willing to take. We all have to be willing to live with the bad ones.
