The heart has 4 chambers, the purpose of which is to send deoxygenated blood it receives from the body to the lungs, and to receive oxygenated blood from the lungs and to pump it all through the body. If through some problem the deoxygenated blood and oxygenated blood are mixed and sent out, then the % of oxygenated blood will be lower. Your whole body suffers when you don't get enough oxygen. If a heart has the kind of problem that causes this, the body could be in serious trouble.
if blood entering the heart gets mixed with blood leaving the heart the the blood leaving the heart will get poluted. the blood entering the heart is poluted when it enters the heart, the heart cleans it up; so when the blood leaves the heart it is clean so if it gets polluted the person may get sick and this leads to his/her death.

This does happen -- to babies born with a hole in the part of the heart that divides the right ventricle from the left ventricle. It makes it difficult for them to oxygenate their tissues well and makes it more difficult for them to thrive as other children do. Years ago, doctors would wait several years to fix such defects. I do not know how long they wait now.

Mixed blood
Oxygenated and deoxygenated blood do not get mixed up inside the heart because the heart was designed to keep these separate. This is why the heart is so complex.
In the four chambered heart all the blood is oxygenated. In the three chambered heart the oxygenated blood is mixed in with the un-oxygenated blood and is therefore not as effective as an oxygen carriers.
Blood leaving the liver can reach the lungs only via the right heart. It travels for the liver through the hepatic [liver] vein to the vena cava [the main vein carrying blood leaving the body], into the right heart [first the right atrium, then the right ventricle], and then through the pulmonary [lung] artery to the lungs .
so that the oxygenated and unoxygenated blood did not mixed with each other
Blood goes into the right side of the heart from the body then pumped to the lungs for purification( this is when oxygen is mixed with haemoglobin( a substance in the body) to make the blood cleaned, it is then pumped to the left side of the heart were it is transported to every part of the body, then the circulation starts all over again.............
half blood, dual blood, mixed blooded! ;) Hope this helps!
