This is most likely the DRL relay switch. Daytime Running Lights. Its located in the front of the car. A small grey box on the wiring harness. If you get a friend to sit in the car and either turn the lights on and off or from high to low in your case and you listen carefully you can hear the click coming from this box. Zero in on it and pull this bad boy out. Then get a new one. About 20 bucks. Its a cheap fix first before paying a mechanic to try and locate the same thing. As soon as you pop the hoop you will see it attached to the front bumper. Their is more than one grey box but hopefully with your friend you can narrow it down.

Mine did the same thing only I still had passenger high beam. See post for 'DRL malfuction'.

The DRL relay is in the fuse box, that grey relay in the wiring harness up near the bumper on the front impact bar is the fog lamp relay. If your lowbeams are both burnt out that will cause Day time running lights to not work, just like a broken wire in front wire harness to headlights, so check bulbs in headlights first. If they are burnt out, when you put car in drive, DRL's will flash on and off, you will here a clicking sound and that is the DRL flasher making the clicking noise. If will stop clicking and traction light and service engine light will come on. If you pull out the DRL flasher in the fuse box or disconnect battery this will reset the traction light and service engine soon until you put your car in gear again. If your lights are turned on, you will have highbeams and no low beams, but when light switch is set to ON, you don't have the problem of the DRL setting the traction control light and Service engine light. So make sure to check your headlight bulbs when you are having this problem. Sometimes it hard to tell when they are burn out just by looking at them. One of mine i could clearing see was burnt out, the other was questionable. So i bought both and put in the one i knew was burnt out. Turned on lights and seen i only had one low beam working and put in the other and that cured all my problems. Your DRL's work on the low beam lights

The big sensor that looks like a relay located right beside the hood latch, is a discriminating sensor for the Airbag system. You can change the DRL relay that's located in the fuse panel but my guess its due to a bad wire or wires. Cavalier and Sunfires are well know for wire harness problems.

What would cause both low headlight beams to become inoperable on a2001 Dodge Ram1500 V8 and only the high beams will work?

There are a few things to check, first are the bulbs good? high and low are separate elements and the low could be blown out. Second is check the fuses, high beam and low beams often have separate fuses. Third would be the dimmer switch.

Where is the fusible link in a 1992 Ford Escort?

there is a fuse block located on the drivers side fenderwell which contains both fuses and fusible links. the fuse box is located in the drivers side kick-panel

What is the difference between fusible felt and interlining?

Fusible felt is usually thinner than most interlining materials. When you iron the outside fabric on the fusible felt it literally fuses together. Do NOT iron the fusible felt directly, it will melt. Interlining is usually loose between stitching whereas if you iron both the top and bottom outer linings with the fusible felt in the inside both outer linings will become attached. Side note: I am no expert I may be mistaken with the information I've provided. Mostly, I answered the question on intuition. I myself just heard of fusible felt yesterday. :D

2000 Chevy Cavalier low beams do not work but day running lights and high beams work what could be wrong?

As a guess both low beams are burnt out The daytime running and high beams are the same light filament. Or the fuse or the relay for the low beams.

Your low beams on both of your headlights are suddenly not working on your 2003 Chevy Venture Why?

Possibly the multifunction switch (switch in columm). Check the bulbs, fuses etc first

The high beams on my 2003 Pontiac Montana aren't working. Low beams are though. Any thoughts on what happened?

you may have a bad relay. If both of them are out, that is probably the relay for the high beams or it could also be a fuse.

How do you fix the hi beams when only the low beams work on a 1992 Toyota Corolla?

Several possibilities: (1) check the fuses first - the high beam fuse may have blown (2) the high beam switch may have broken (3) a broken or grounded wire in the circuit (4) Possible-but highly unlikely- is that both high beams could have failed at the same time and you would need 2 new bulbs.

Why dont your high beams turn on but your low beams both work on your 2000 ford expedition Is there a fuse for it?

It sounds like the low beam/high beam switch is bad. Fuses are not the problem since they are built into the headlight switch and would cause headlights to blink or not come on for both high and low beam headlights.

Replaced headlight switch and headlights still don't workwhat next?

What type of vehicle are you working on? You could have a bad dimmer switch, a blown fuse or fusible link, a bad relay, a bad connection in the harness, or a burned up wire. Do both high and low beams not work? Get a manual with a wiring schematic and troubleshoot.

Why would the high beams on a 1994 Thunderbird work when the low beams do not?

Headlights have two filaments; one for low beams and one for high beams. There is a good chance that the low beams are burnt out. This doesn't necessarily mean that the high beams won't work. However, it's not too common for both low beams to burn out at the same time. Of course, it could be a fluke. I would replace the headlights with new ones and then go from there.

How do you fix on a 2001 Ford F-150 high beam even though low beam works fuses are ok and the switch is already been replaced?

sure its not just a bad lightbulb with the high beams blown? ANSWER Inthe 2000 model check these fuses #16,#28,and#26 # 16is a 20 amp fuse, # 28 and #26 are 10 amp fuses. I am betting on the 20 amp fuse. It controls the amperage for the high beams. These fuses are in the fuse box in the engine area. Hope this helps. I had the same problem and after checking every fuse and connection i finally changed the bulbs. even though it made no sense both high beams quit at the same time it was the bulbs.

96 Geo Tracker no longer has low beams but high beams work All fuses are good Both bulbs are good When turning the lights on and off there is a sound of a relay clicking from under the stereo What now?

check to make sure the wires in the connector at the back of the light to back sure they are all in tacked.
