Why is a rabbits foot lucky?

I don't really know why it's seen as "good luck" but I think I know. I have a bunny and she's really fast (My old one is the fast one, my new one is too shy to come outside) and I've heard that rabbits run in a zig-zag pattern to confuse it's prey. So I think it's good luck because they're really fast and maybe hunters have a really hard time trying to shoot rabbits because of that.

If you are carrying it around in your pocket it wasn't good luck for the rabbit.
