Not returning a vehicle to it's rightful owner leaves you subject to auto theft charges, arrest, and jail time.
This is not necessarily true, every state is different. I was an idiot and took someones car for a test drive, he took my car, we were supposed to trade for a day. It has been 2 weeks now! I have called the police, they came out to my house and there is absolutely nothing they can do since I let him take my car. I asked at what point of him not giving me my car back does this become theft, again, nothing they could do. They said this was a civil agreement and I can take him to civil court. I am in the state of Oregon by the way, recently moved here from California and I'm sure that California laws are different...this should be considered theft but is not. :(
Yes, you can get arrested if you have not returned your rental car when you were suppose to return it. If you keep the car longer than your were suppose to without contacting the company, they can file a stolen vehicle report.
Yes. You can be charged for auto theft, and you can be jailed.
Failing to follow a court order is called, Contempt of Court. You can be arrested, and if convicted serve jail time. Is this car worth going to jail over?
Most of the time, your car may be de-registered.
3 for arrested 1time i think for car
That depends. They can get arrested if their toddler or young child was driving the car, I suppose.
You would be reported and arrested so dont think about it
I dont know that you can i would recommend just selling it for a set price or best offer
yes, of course u can but i really dont know
You need to be more specific in your question. Return a car to a dealer, return a leased car, return a borrowed car to a friend, return a rental car?
No, you can not return the car.
If you know for a fact that the car is about to be repossessed, it is your responsibility to return the car to the agency before you move. If you take this car with you, you could be arrested for Grand Theft, Auto. Prison time is not worth it ... give the car back and get on with life.
