Top should be a "normal" top but may not have been painted if the top was put on at the factory. It also may have glue or epoxy on the top that would need to be cleaned off to make it look decent. The safest idea is to assume the top will need to be painted upon removal of the fabric or vinyl top. Get some estimates on painting the top with you removing the old top and with the body shop removing the top then decide if it's worth it? If the top has imperfections like hail danage or other dents, consider a "spray-on" vinyl top, if you can find anyone who still does this? Another option is to have it sprayed with bed-liner material, assuming you need anything at all on it? You might get lucky and find the top has been completely painted........but I doubt it. Bottom line, the top itself will likely be "normal" but the finish probably will not be. Good luck, Brian 918-916-2255 (McAlester, Oklahoma)
Fiberglass cloth is used to make repairs on vehicles. It can be purchased at any auto supply store or most home supply or hardware stores such as Home Depot or Ace Hardware.
Bondo doesn't require cloth, but it's not very strong. It's intended to fill small shallow imperfections. Cloth is usually used with fiberglass resin, which is used to repair fiberglass bodies structurally.
There are steel helmets with fiberglass liners, and Kevlar ones. Steel helmets are made from sheet steel, fiberglass cloth and polyester resin. Kevlar helmets are made from Kevlar cloth and epoxy resin.
Aluminum, steel, fiberglass, even cloth have been used.

Fiberglass is manufactured in different weights and weaves. The choices seem to be endless, but fiberglass cloth is always listed in terms of weight per square yard. You can readily find 3.7 oz e-glass, which is often referred to as 4 oz fiberglass. You can also find fiberglass in weights of 9 oz and up to 40.5 oz! Fiberglass also comes in woven cloth, chopped strand mat, roving and again the list seems to go on and on. The key to your question, though, would be to look for the weight of the fabric you wanted.
Fiberglass Mesh is also known as fiberglass cloth. It is generally made of filamentary plastic coating glass fiber yarn. This product is known to have a high alkali-resistance quality and high tensile strength.
Yes, Lowes sells fiberglass fabric to the public. You should check with a store associate to find out exactly which kinds, but one example from the website is Elmer's 3' x 3' Fiberglass Cloth.
Try Vinegar. Also, use some rainguard purchased from your local car parts place on a regular basis. You can use several cleaners on fiberglass showers.Old Dutch cleanser, sold in Dollar Tree stores.Baking soda is a great fiberglass cleanser when you make a paste.Finish it off with car wax and buff with a terry cloth and it will stay cleaner longer.
Fiberglass is a composite material reinforcement. Parts made using fiberglass are typically still referred to as "fiberglass." Fiberglass parts are made from strands of glass fiber which are suspended in a polymer (plastic) matrix (resin). Fiberglass cloth is a fabric comprised of strands of glass fibers that are bundled together in different weaves. Unlike carbon fiber, fiberglass can be purchased in the form of cloth where long continuous stands of glass are woven into a fabric using a predetermined weave, or in chopped strand mat where short strands of glass are formed randomly into a fabric and held together by a weak styrene styrene bonding agent. Fiberglass cloth has good direction strength while fibergas mat has a lower strenght but is equal in all directions. The two most common glass types are E-glass and S-glass. S-glass is a higher strength glass reinforcement, sometimes referred to as structural-glass, and as you can imagine it is a bit more expensive.
