Applying with an 'undecided' major will not boost your chances of acceptance at any school. That said, neither will applying with a decided major. If you scored particularly well on a specific test, such as SATII Chem, maybe you could put your major as something sciency - showing admissions officers that you're good at what you want to be. Overall though, major shouldn't affect chances of admission significantly.

Technically speaking, there's no set GPA. That said, applicants should try to be within the middle 50% of applicants (found on admissions website). If you have a 4.0 and no out of class experience, your chances aren't any better than someone with a 3.0 and plenty of volunteering/extra curriculars. The university looks for well rounded students more often than they look for academic geniuses.
