Could be the carrier bearings or pinion bearings in the differential(s). Mine was the wife and kids.
There are many advantages to having a rack and pinion steering system installed in a vehicle. Two major advantages are the road feel capabilities that are available when driving a vehicle on wet or icy roads and the precision of your steering when using a rack and pinion steering system.
no
It sounds like the pinion nut is not tight enough and the pinion is now moving in and out. This will do bad damage to ring and pinion. You will need to replace crush sleeve in rear end now.
its the pinion gear usually happens when the Axel assembly . is low on fluid, or from hi mileage usage, ether replace the Axel assembly .the Axel bearings get hot and start whining. thanks
A crown and pinion are used in steering and driving. A pinion gear is used to steer against the force of gravity, while the crown is a wheel with cogs lining along its rim.
Sounds like you have a bad seal on the rack and pinion. The bellows is only to keep dirt and water out of the rack and pinion, it is not a seal to hold pressure in.
420 RPM
Hey Marilyn==Either the gear is leaking otr the line wasn't tightened when the pump was replaced. GoodluckJoe
Rear pinion gear, that's what mine was.
Probably the rack and pinion needs to be replaced.
A bad pinion bearing in the differential is to blame
