First of all, she has to make sure that her tubes aren't damaged. Second, the reversal is just as risky as major surgery. As far as the sex drive that shouldn't change. Now does she have clamps on her tubes or did she have a regular tubaligation?

Either have a tubal reversal, which is a fairly big operation, or have a baby through in vitro fertilization.

Reversal surgery or donor eggs.

Only a reversal or IVF will get you pregnant. Both of thewse are expensive and not guranteed to work.

A tubal ligation is considered permanent birth control, but there is still a margin of error. You could become pregnant any time afterward. It is estimated that 143 women in 10,000 (1.43%) get pregnant after tubal ligations.

Pregnancy after tubal ligation is very rare. Tubal ligation has less than a 2% failure rate and even if you do get pregnant without reversal surgery you are more likely to have an ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is very dangerous and you should see a Dr immediately if you feel that you may be pregnant.

User Avatar

Yes, it is possible to get pregnant after a tubal ligation. In rare instances the tubal ligation does not work and you may get pregnant but the instance of ectopic rate is very high and a doctor should be consulted right away. IVF is also available for those who want to conceive after a tubal ligation. This can be very expensive and many cannot afford. Tubal ligation reversal surgery is also an option. As proven in the Tubal Ligation Reversal Pregnancy Report 2009 this treatment has a better overall pregnancy success rate. Not only is it less taxing to the woman's body it is less expensive.

It is possible to get pregnant naturally after having had a tubal ligation. Your chances are approximately 1.4-2%.

User Avatar

Although natural pregnancy could occur it is very slim. If it does happen naturally there is a very good chance that it would be ectopic. The most natural way to have a child after having a tubal ligation is with tubal ligation reversal. Surprising to many is the fact the tubal reversal has a better pregnancy rate than the alternative treatment of IVF. Not only does tubal ligation reversal have a better success rate it is more natural and less expensive than the alternative.

User Avatar

You can consider a reversal where the fallopian tubes are put back together or you can try IVF. Either of these is expensive though

Tubal ligation reversal surgery is much more successful than many realize. I recent study published by Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center fives the actual statistics. The two main factors are the type of ligation that was performed as well as your age at the time of reversal. Another factor to keep in mind is the experience the surgeon has (pretty self explanatory).

User Avatar

Yes, it's called in vitro. Although sometimes the tubal ligation doesn't work perfectly and a woman can become pregnant.

User Avatar

A tubal ligation reversal will vary in cost depending on the doctor's and hospital fees you have this surgery done at. Check with the insurance company, they may pay for some of it.

User Avatar

no. they will pay for a ligation but not a reversal. Reversal is an elective surgery. There are centers that offer payment plans though. look

User Avatar

No. Insurance will not pay for reversal of a tubal ligation, regardless of the type of insurance or where you are located (within the US, anyway), because it is considered voluntary.

User Avatar

The previous answer is incorrect. My coverage from Blue Cross and Blue Shield covers tubal ligation reversal. It depends upon your plan.

User Avatar

you could either have a tubal reversal or try ivf. a tubal reversal would be cheaper, but you would have to use protection or get your tubes tied again.

User Avatar

There is no guarantee that either tubal ligation reversal or the alternative treatment of IVF will work.

Tubal reversal after tubal ligation does not have a high success rate. The most common way of modern tubal ligation is to burn the ends of the tube and it is not very successful with reversal.
