If swimming is so good for your figure than why are whales so fat?

There is a difference between 'large' and 'fat'. Whales are the largest creatures on earth by a scale of many time above humans - the same criteria for fatness cannot be used to compare the two. Additionally, any fat a whale has is necessary to protect it from the cold of the oceans.

If swimming is such good exercise how come whales are so fat?
They produce lots of blubber to protect themselves from the cold and the extreme pressure at lower depths. Jellyfish drift, whales swim. This is partially true but the main reason whales have a lot of blubber is a question of buoyancy. Fat is much less dense than muscle and bone and without it the whales would sink very fast.
