I think the cigarette industry should try to get at least $20 per pack. If people are that addicted, by all means take advantage of them. That's what a good drug pusher would do out on the streets.
it depends on the quality of the cigarettes from $5.51- $50

A pack of cigarettes in 1973 cost $.33 which includes tax. Because taxes vary from state to state, the price would vary as well.
To simplify we take the percentage of 20/0.4 therefore the new price it cos 3

nope. if a smoker had enough money for a packet of cigarettes and no lunch, they would buy the cigarettes and skip lunch! smokers will buy cigarettes no matter how much they cost.
I can't find the base price before tax, but if you look at the link below it shows federal and state taxes on cigarettes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cigarette_taxes_in_the_United_States#State_cigarette_tax_rates for example in Texas, the tax would be $1.41 state tax and $1.01 federal tax with a total of $2.42 tax per pack
sales price = 90.40 / 1 + 8% sales price = 90.40 / 1.08 sales price = 83.70 the #1 is the figurative element that was taken the 8% tax out
Are you on drugs? You want the government to give you back the taxes you pay on cigarettes? You realize that the reason the taxes are so high is mainly as a deterrent to smoking, as well as to generate revenue. Why would they give you this money back!!
i remember paying 3 cents!!
If you mean cigarettes, that will depend on the brand and where you purchase them. the tax is different in each state.
$7.63
As of 2017, prices included a $2.60/ pack excise tax and pushed carton prices over $40 in locations not subject to additional city taxes. The per-pack price ranges from $4 for off-brands to $5 or more for name brands.
Incidence of indirect taxes indicate how much burden of indirect taxes will be borne by the producers and how much by the consumers by way of rise in price.
