For people who wish to justify drunkenness, the Scripture still calls it sin. As Galatians 5:19-21 indicates, "they which do such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God."

Would getting drunk intentionally be the same as becoming drunking unintentionally? The context (in my ESV) doesn't give enough information to decide whether or not he intentionally drank to be drunk or drank the wine unknowingly of its degree of fermentation. Also, regardless of the actions of men in the Old Testament, we shouldn't compare ourselves to them seeing as we today as Christians, should be looking for our "do's and don'ts" from the New Testament. Not that this is a great answer for your question, but I think you should consult the New Testament first for your answer. But if you are pro-alcoholismthen I think you are going to be mildly upset with what you find....
