If the Ps3 Powers up but the AV cord isn't working try taking it out on both ends and blowing with your mouth any dust away, plug it back in on both ends and try using the ps3 again. If that doesn't work make sure your monitor/tv is working (displaying a channel) and is on the correct mode to use the PS3. If the TV Is working, the AV cord may be broken in which case you may need to buy a new one unless it is covered in the warranty of the PS3 Purchase. You can buy one online or in a electronics store/gaming maybe.
If your TV supports HDMI i suggest you buy a HDMI cable as it is easier and gives you a much better resolution (quality).

Hey William==This means that the gauge on the dash isn't getting a signal from the sending unit. The sender is either not plugged in or there is a break in the wire somewhere. GoodluckJoe
Check the fuses.
You need to learn how to use a volt-ohm meter or hire an electrician. If the wire were hot you could have been injured.
No. Hook up the power wire first, then the ground wire. The ground wire is what acutually draws the power to the unit. As you will notice the power wont turn on if just the power wire is plugged in..
