There is a wire next to the large (red) battery wire that is for the tachometer. Check to see if you plugged it back in and is the connection good.
it is probably a bad ignition module or computer
How do i change the ignition switch in a 1988 Chevy camaro
there are about 3 special tools required to do this job. It includes removing the steering wheel, horn assy., and the spring loaded center support.
You will need to remove the retaining ring from the top of your 1997 Chevy Camaro ignition switch. The ignition switch will slide out. Remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.

The 2001 Chevrolet Camaro ignition switch is held in place with a retaining ring. Remove the retaining the ring and slide the ignition switch out. Remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
