With the meter on the voltage scale you will read zero volts across the blown fuse. From the bottom terminal of the service switch fuse to ground you will read zero volts and from the top terminal of the service switch fuse to ground you will read 120 volts.

Parts and function of Volt-Ohm-Milliammeter?

A meter that can be used to measure multiple ranges of currents and voltages is called a multimeter. A common type of multimetera combination voltmeter, ohmmeter and milliammeteris abbreviated VOM

What the function of input rectifier at the digital multimeter?

The indicater meter is a DC device, so the rectifier changes AC to DC. A meter could not respond to AC.

Assume that the function range switch is on the 20k position and the multimeter displays 1 when the test leads are across an unknown resistor What would most likely cause the meter to display 1?

the function range switch is not set on a high enough scale

What is the function of voltmeter?

for measurement of potential between two points. It is connected in parellal with the two points.

How do you calibrate a analog multimeter?

BASIC MULTIMIETER OPERATION BASIC MULTIMETER INFORMATIONMultimeter is a measuring instrument. It can be used to measure voltage, current and resistance. An analog meter moves a needle along a scale. The function of the meter can be changed by switching the dial. Most modern multimeters are digital. Similar to analog ones, digital multimeter has a dial to select its function. However, instead of having to interpret the reading of an analog scale, the data is shown directly in digital format on the LCD display. BASIC MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES 1. Before using the multimeter, estimate the value you will measure, make sure it is within the range that the multimeter can measure or withstand. NEVER USE THE METER BEYOND ITS CAPABILTY. 2. Choose to the function you want to use by switching the dial. Turn on the power. 3. When measuring voltage, connect the BLACK probe (COM) to the ground (0V), and the RED probe to the node you want to check. When measuring resistor, first make sure the resistor is not connected to any other component or power supply, then connect the probes to the two ends of the resistor. 4. Two alligator clips can be used with probes. For your safety, alligator clips MUST be used when measuring any voltage more than 36V. They can also be used to free your hands by clipping the probes onto the circuit. Put the alligator clips back in the box after each use. 5. Read the data on the display, remember the units. 6. Turn off the power when you are done. MULTIMETER TROUBLESHOOTING 1. Is the BLACK probe in the COM plug? 2. Is the RED probe in the correct plug? 3. Is the function dial turned to the correct position? 4. Is the power of the multimeter on? *** WORD OF CAUTION AND DISCLAIMER*** ALWAYS USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN USING ANY TYPE OF METER.OR WORKING WITH ELECTRICITY. NEVER-NEVER-NEVER HOLD THE METER WHILE TESTING IN CASE OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK- PLACE THE METER DOWN ON SOMETHING THAT IS NON-CONDUCTIVE, AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE GROUNDED PROPERLY. NEVER DO ANY ELECTRICAL TESTING WITHOUT PROPER FOOTWEAR OR INCLEMENT WEATHER. *** IF YOU ARE EVER IN DOUBT OF WHAT TO DO, CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL ELECTRICIAN.

What is the advantage provided by multimeter?

A multimeter, also called a VOM, is an ohmmeter, ammeter, and voltmeter combined in one case. A function knob can be turned to select the type of measurement to be made, such as volts, amps, or ohms. The multimeter's test lead connections to the circuit will depend on whether you are using it as a voltmeter, an ammeter, or an ohmmeter.

What function is performed by battery terminals?

The function of battery terminals is to connect a load or charger to a cell battery. Battery terminals are necessary and common in a lot of batteries.

Principle of multimeter?

Based on the principle of the D'Arsonval galvanometer, the main function of a multimeter is measuring a circuit's voltage, current, and resistance.

What instrument measures voltage?

Resistance is measured with an ohmmeter. A link is provided to a brief article on the ohmmeter posted at Wikipedia.Note that it is unusual in this day and age to have a device that will measure ohms and nothing else. The ohmmeter is usually included among the functions of a multimeter, and usually a digital multimeter or DMM.
