Because the result would be anarchy!
Sailors, airplane pilots, military ground forces and general civilians use Greenwich as the reference point of zero degrees longitude for all navigaton purposes. Repeat: ALL navigation purposes. Charts created a hundred years ago and still in use today refer to Greenwich as point zero. Time almanacs for celestial navigation (using a sextant or computer programs and/or in electronic charts) are in print, or computerized, or even in some cases memorized, that allow people to calculate their position upon this planet using Greenwich as the reference point.
GPS systems in automobiles, upon ships & planes, in hand-held devices, would all have to be recalibrated should the reference point be changed.
While yes, it is technically possible to change the Prime Meridian, there is no -- repeat NO -- advantage to doing so. Conversely, there is a HUGE monetary and technilogical cost to changing from the status-quo. Like it or not, Greenwich is, and will remain, the Prime Meridian.
