Maybe.........Maybe Not. There are a lot of variables here. Like, what were you doing when it broke? High Revving the engine?? Normal driving?? Take it to a competent mechanic in your neighborhood.
could cause internal damage to valves and or pistons !
A 2.0L DOHC Suzuki motor. Which is what Chevy used in alot of the Trackers. And YES valve damage will happen. Mine bent six valves when the upper chain guides broke.
Yes, the valves on a tracker can be adjustable, depending on the specific model and design of the tracker. Some trackers come equipped with adjustable valves to fine-tune their performance and optimize fluid flow, while others may have fixed valves designed for specific applications. Always refer to the manufacturer's manual for detailed information on valve adjustability for your particular tracker model.
0.028 geo tracker 1990, 8 valves 2 doors
Yes, but not only valves will be damage. Yes, but not only valves will be damage.
Most of the time, yes. Most of the time, yes.
When a timing chain breaks on a 2002 Chevy Tracker, it can lead to severe engine damage, as the engine's pistons and valves may collide, causing bent valves or damaged pistons. This can result in a complete engine failure, requiring extensive repairs or an engine replacement. Additionally, the vehicle will likely stop running immediately, and it may not start again until the damage is addressed. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent timing chain failure.
Yes it does damage the valves
OuchThe cam belt rotates the cams, the cams move the valves, when the belt goes the valves stop moving. THE PISTONS DON'T.Due to engine timimg one or more valves are going to be held open and get hit by a fast moving piston.Damage can occur from the valve upwards (valve, cam, cam carriers, etc) and from the piston down (holed piston, gudgin pin, shells, etc). It's a cam cover off job to inspect there for damage and work your way down until you stop finding any.
most all pcv valves are located on the valve cover
The 1997 Tracker, specifically the models with the 1.6L 4-cylinder engine, is equipped with a non-interference engine design. This means that if the timing belt were to break, the engine's pistons and valves would not collide, preventing potential catastrophic damage. Always consult a mechanic or the owner's manual for specific engine details and maintenance recommendations.
If the timing chain broke on the quad 4 you don't need to worry about a chain you need a new head when the timing chain breaks on them it lets the valves come down and hit the top of the pistons which binds the valves or at least that what i have seen.
