Junk, it is an interference motor. You need to replace the belt as recommended. For those who don't understand, some motors just die when the timing belt breaks. Nothing bad happens, just need a tow to a shop to get it replaced. On an "interference" engine, there is no clearance inside the engine between the pistons and the valves if they are not in time. If the timing belt breaks, the pistons slam against the valves, destroying the engine.
yes they are interference motors yes they are interference motors
No, it is interference. Valves can bend if the timing belt breaks. No, it is interference. Valves can bend if the timing belt breaks.
If your asking because you broke a timing belt and you've replaced it and its not running that well now. you didnt hurt your valves you just need to go over it and check to see if you have the valve timing correct. And to answer your question, it is not an interference motor
if the timing belt does go on gto it would be a miracle if you didn't bend half of the valves ! its whats called an interference motor. if something gets out of time - you get major interference, costs $$$$$
NO it is an interference motor 180,000 broke timing chain, bent #3 exhaust valve, luckily it must have stopped quickly as no more were bent.
Yes. Most cars are interference motors, this means if the belt breaks, there will be engine damage( bent valves, possible broken pistons). If it is a none interference motor, it will crank, but won't start.
No , according to the gates website ( they make timing belts etc. ) it is an interference motor in the Mercury Tracer
no it is an interference motor ans will likely bend valves in the timing belt goes
No, Ford Focus 2002 SOHC. The timing belt just broke on me and I just replaced it and car runs normally. Or maybe I was just lucky.
the clutch is really easy to install and the timing belt is not a problem if its shot The 1993 Geo Storm is not an interference motor, because my belt just broke,(Nov 2005) and I got the same question answered on the following website: "www.nutzandboltz.org". My daughter's 1990 Geo Storm timing belt broke while she was driving it. She tried to start the engine but it would not run. We were told that it was an interference motor and that the motor was now shot. Being a little skeptical of the "experts" I put a new timing belt on and the engine started and has run fine for several months (clutch just went out). So much for the experts, by the way how ard is it to change the clutch? Thanks M in Omaha
No, it is a non-interference motor
Yes.
