There is wind on the Moon. Solar wind but also artificial wind or pressure. If i were to take a wind machine / fan to the moon that flag would flap like crazy.

Look at the Apollo 15 EVA, when he walks past the flag after putting it in it is perfectly and then starts to sway like a light breeze hit it. Because he created the wind, just the same as if a car or truck drives past you on the road and you would fel wind or more correctly and change in air pressure.

The statement there is no wind on the moon mainly refers to wind caused by weather or atmospheric conditions.

Why did the flag flap on the moon in the moon lading?

The flag did not flap. Ever heard of inertia? If you planted the flag on the moon, there would be residual energy same as on Earth, the difference being that as The Moon has no atmosphere it would take a lot longer for any residual energy to dissipate. So the force used to plant the Flag , would wobble up the Pole giving the appearance of wind , when in fact its just kinetic energy being released.

Did anyone go to the moon?

no, because if you see in the background theres no stars and the American flag is waving but theres no wind on the moon

Is the Apollo 11 aAmerican flag still on the moon?

Yes the American flag will fly proudly on the moon , for years to come, as there are no one there to spoil it , or no wind either to damage it.

How did flag float on moon?

The flag on the moon's surface is not a cloth flag. The flag is designed to appear to be waving in the breeze; fully extended. Since there is no wind in spce it had to be made in that manner.

Why is the American flag waving on the moon?

the flag waves because it was planted in the soil and Neil Armstrong twisted the poles.this is obvious because int other footage you can see the flag is not moving when he walks past it.Since there is no wind on the moon the flag pole made of the moon landing was an upside-down "L" shape to hold the flag material straight out.

Why does a flag flutter when strong winds are blowing?

When the wind is not blowing strongly, the flow lines in the air are relatively straight. This is called laminar flow. As the wind speed increases, it reaches a threshold beyond which laminar flow is replaced by turbulent flow. In turbulent flow the air is filled with vortices which cause the flag to flap.

How does the flag stay on the moon?

There is no atmosphere, no wind, rain, dust to disturb it.

Is there an American moon landing conspiracy?

Yes. Many believe that the moon landing was a hoax. I am not one of them. People say they see "proof" that it was a hoax, but it can be explained due to features found on the Moon. I have seen a video where they believe they saw a reflection of a man holding a blow torch in the background during reentry. I looked at it closer and it was just the reflection of the astronauts. Many also believe that they saw the flag flap in the wind while on the moon and it had to have been on earth because there is no wind on the moon. It was not actually flapping in the wind. That is just how it behaves in a vacuum. Because there is no air on the moon, there is no friction. So when the Apollo astronauts placed the flag on the moon, it caused it to swing around as if it were flapping. Anyone (with a very powerful laser) can see for sure if men have landed on the moon or not because, lucky for us, Neil Armstrong left mirrors on the moon. If you do have a strong enough laser you can point it at the mirrors, and you will get some light back- this is proof that men have landed on the moon.

Is the american flag still on the moon?

There are several American flags on the moon. Each Apollo mission to land on the Moon deployed a flag. The Apollo 11 flag was placed close to the lander and may have been damaged by the ascent stage liftoff. Subsequent flags were placed further away to avoid such damage. The Apollo 15 flag is often featured in videos that hoax theorists purport show it "waving in the wind".

How did the American flag fly in space?

I presume you mean on the moon. Well, it didn't fly, exactly. Rather, the top side of the flag was attached to a rod that ran perpendicular to the flagpole. Otherwise, the flag would have simply hung limp without any wind to support it.

When was the U.S. flag first flown on the moon?

We landed on the moon and placed a flag there July 1969. By putting the flag there we were claiming that part of the moon for the United States. This tradition goes back centuries to the first explorers claiming lands for their country. Today, the flag is still on the moon and just as good as it was the day it was placed . On the moon there is no wind or rain to cause damage.
