This is rather difficult to understand,
guys are usually curious and lets just say if some of your friend is sad or is not looking well you will be curious to know what's wrong with him or her.
Now many may not understand that sometimes it is better not to ask
(guys especially are not good in emotional kind of situations)
but, well guys are guys. What do you expect them to do than just being guys.

Like say it's something as simple as a favorite color, if you remember what it is then that shows that you remember the littlest details of them. Say that you don't want to lose them as a friend, and you understand that what you did or said wasn't right or necessarily nice. If they don't forgive you, no worries, you will always make more friends.
