The word Islam means to submit to Allah (God) in accordance with Tauheed which is monotheism and to be free from shirk (polytheism) and it's people. so a Muslim is one who practices Islam and submits to Allah with obedience in accordance to Tauheed, thus all prophets from Noah to Muhammad all submitted to one God called their people to this and shunned polytheism. so all of them were muslims likewise their true followers because they all submitted to the one true creator. there are many examples of this in the Quran. I hope this question helped.
