Good question! I'll split it in two and then you come back and leave a message in the Discussion about your notifications.I'll rename the first split question "If this is the first part of a split question that has been split in two do you get notified of both answers?" I'll rename the second split question "If this is the second part of a split question that has been split in two do you get notified of both answers?"

The openocean is split into the surface zone (where light can shine through) and the deep zone (where light can't shine through. I hop this answers your question!:)
for me it is a split although you can become bad at it. i guess a front tuck would be it. i hope this answers your question.
Actually, when the question was asked and answered is recorded for each question. If you click on the question history, it shows the day the question was answered and when a certain contributor answered the question. It also tells when an alternate was split from the question, when something was merged into it, and much more.
You would go to the alternates page and choose the second option below the alternate you wish to split into a new question. Then you would edit the categories if necessary, and then answer if you are able to do so.
Answers com is absolutely terrible. They have no answers. Just questions
Who Asked the Question? To find out who asked a specific question, do the following:At the top of the blue box on the left-hand side of the page, you will see "Question tools" (under the "Hi [username]" when they are logged in).Click on "Question history." This will give you information such as who asked the question; who made an edit to the question or the answer; who added to the answer; who answered the question; or if an answer was reverted by a supervisor. (Note that the username of each person modifying the question or answer is given as a link to that person's profile.)If you scroll down to the earliest entry of the "Question history," it will show whether the person asked the question anew, or split it off from a different question. What is a split?A "split" means that the question was originally asked as an alternate, and then split off to be a primary question. If that is the case - and you want to see which user added the alternate in the first place - you must go to the question that it was split from and look through the alternates.
There seem to be lots of answers to this question, all saying cone. What about the poor lonely sphere? Split it in two by anyintersection with a plane and each piece will fit the question.
Yes they do, you can cut them to make them split. Or make the dessert banana split! What a random question to ask!
That is not a question...
No, it's not impossible to date the question and answer. Actually, the questions and answers are dated, believe it or not. If you look to your blue navigation bar to the left (if you are a registered user), you will see a 'Question History' link. If you click on that link, you will see the whole history of the question, with the earliest being either having been split off from another question or asked, and after that there is a small, gray printing. That gray printing is the date in which it happened.
