If a hen lays 4 eggs in 5 days, at that same rate, she'd take 15 days to lay a dozen eggs. Same answer for 8 hens: 15 days. Note that the trick here is that the number of hens is irrelevent; they're not laying the eggs together.

3hens must lay 3eggs in 1.5 days

because doubling the hens must double the eggs in the same time

so by the same logic

1hen must lay 1egg in 1.5 days

so

10hens must lay 10eggs in 1.5 days

but if you double the time with the same number of hens then you double the eggs

so

10hens must lay 20eggs in 3 days

and

10hens must lay 40eggs in 6 days

and

10hens must lay 60eggs in 9 days

to get 1 day

consider that

10hens must lay 20eggs in 3 days

but in 1 day you will get 1/3 of the eggs

so

10hens must lay 6 and 2/3 eggs in 1 day

so adding

10hens must lay 66 + 2/3 eggs in 10 days

First, use the former scenario determine that rate of eggs laid per chicken per day, then apply that rate to the latter scenario.

So in this case, do your own homework.
