The risks of developing an heart attack are:

1. Obesity

2. High cholesterol diet

3. Age and sex (males are more susceptible)

4. Smoking

5. Congenital (family history)

Therefore, if you keep a healthy diet, do some exercise, stop smoking, and keep your weight normal, you can counteract the family history.

A sedentary life style and high fat diet can lead to heart attacks. An hour of cardio 3-4 times a week can work out your heart which may decrease your chances of having a heart attack. Also eating a healthy diet low in fat can decrease your chances. But most importantly, knowing if you have a history of Heart disease and getting regular check-ups where your blood pressure, pulse, and cholesterol levels are monitored can go along way in preventing heart attack.
