If you are using light strings on your parlor acoustic guitar can you replace your G string with a B string?

Yes it is. It is not recommended to do this all the time though, as each gauge string exerts different stress and tension on the guitar neck. It's best to do this only until you can get yourself new strings.

Is dreaednought acoustic guitar any good?
The Dreadnought Acoustic guitar is a standard of all time in acoustic guitars. I believe there is more of that size guitar out there than any other type. You can see one here the term "Dreadnought" comes from the Dreadnought ships of old. It is actually a specific size and shape of the body of a guitar. It is smaller than a Jumbo but larger than a "000" or "parlor guitar". Typically they use steel strings and have 20 frets. There are really cheap ones, made with all basswood and cheap necks that are hard to play and have weak tone (the linden face is not a normal guitar tone wood). Basswood is also called linden and is not a high end body for a guitar. There is a fellow who mass markets an all linden guitar for under $200. They are pretty, but do not have the tone of a really fine guitar. Lately the best are made from Spruce top (not laminated "no plywood please"), and Sepele (oriental mahogany) or Indian Rosewood back and sides. Cedar tops are very nice too, if you want a deeper tone as it ages cedar gets a little tighter and can become a near perfect tone for some people. The most common fret board is made from rosewood, mounted on a hardwood neck. It is best to have a truss rod or you will not be able to fix it if the neck changes shape. A dual truss rod is best because it adjusts in "bow out" or "bow in" conditions. I own three, one is a Fender D-25 from Korea with cedar top and mahogany back and sides. The other two are a Gruver Ouray about $300 with spruce top and Sapele backs and sides. This is an excellent guitar. The other is the Gruver Arboles, with cedar top and many refinements. The Arboles is a super high end guitar for under $1000 dollars. There are a couple of others that are very nice. The Martin D-28 is the all time classic with Rosewood back and sides. It retails for about $3000 top $4000. My other favorite is the Gibson "Humming bird", also in the $3000 price range. Taylor makes really fine Dreadnoughts too.
