yes Taxes, even income taxes are not dependent on a job. Income tax is on income, and without getting too involved, even on different types of income. So many people do not have jon=bs or work, but may have substantial income, from investments, from payments from other sources (legal judgements, lottery, lucky, prior sales, etc) and may pay income on that. Then there are many taxes that have nothing to do with income...like sales tax paid when someone buys something (or at least many things), property tax (paid just for owning something), etc.

If you have income sources other than employment (investments, real estate, etc.), you may have to pay income tax. It is difficult to escape being a tax payer in our society because even if you don't pay income tax, you probably pay sales or real estate taxes.

Yes you could still other sources of worldwide income that would have to be reported on your 1040 income tax return and be subject to income taxes at your marginal tax rate. Also whenever you go out and buy a candy bar you always pay tax but if you don't want it and you want cash back you can get tax credit.
