Yes, 1st gear and set the parking brake also.
D4 on an automatic and 5th gear in a manual.
Put is in D (Drive) the highest gear you have on an A/T. On a manual you drive in 5th on the highway.
It's a shame to drive a subaru with an automatic transmission
actually you should have an automatic in highest gear on column as possible that's what the computer is for it determines what gear you should be in if you have a manual transmission then read owners manual it will tell you when the correct times to shift from one gear to the next for fuel economy and engine life first, not all cars have computers ,second if it is an automatic, it does not matter if car is in overdrive.the transmission will choose which gear is needed for the speed and load if a manuel transmission, the driver can hear and feel whether the car is in the right gear for the driving conditions
any one who knows how to drive 6 gears can drive a 6 gear car .Most people who can drive a manual car can drive a 6 geared car.
It is the button on the gear shift handle. this all should be covered in the owners manual.
If your car is in first gear then you are in drive. Dont mix up the differences between manual and automatics transmissions
It's an automatic. Leave it in "Drive" and the car will pick a suitable gear all by itself.
No this is not necessary. Leave it in Drive.
yes,manual steering will do
Put your car in Neutral(N) on the gear shift (if you have a manual transmission do not put it in a gear, leave in neutral) then pull up on the 4 wheel drive gear lever. do not drive faster than 55mph in 4hi, and never faster than 15 in 4lo, also you should never put it in 4lo unless you are absolutely positively in an extreme situation.. If you do need to put into 4lo, put car in neutral and roll at about 2-3 mph then shift into 4lo, if you are not moving and you cant put into gear, DO NOT force it, you will break the cable and be stuck in 4 wheel drive. ----
drive the car, it should drive smooth with no jerks or noises. check for leaks. if manual, start driving in second gear, it should be able to go, even if not very fast. (make sure to give lots of gas)
