Gently pumping your brakes.
you shpuld drive slowly to dry them
most the braking comes from the front.but too much and yer car dives, too little and yer bak end will slide around to the front on slippery surfaces(like an e brake slide)
most likely something wrong with you brakes I had the ABS light appear, then it would not shift out of 1st gear, then the speedometer did not work, over a period of weeks. THE FIX.. A MOUSE ATE THROUGH THE SPEED SENSOR WIRES. (WIRES FROM IN BACK OF THE DISK BRAKES THROUGH THE HOLE NEAR THE SHOCK ABSORBERS.
slack adjuster is the adjuster on the brakes of vehicles with air brakes. these are used to adjust and take the slack out of the brakes caused by usual wear on the brakes

If your brakes are ineffective, you have a problem, part of that problem is that your truck is 23 years old. Why don't you change the fluid, replace the front pads and rear shoes. Replace the front rotors and rear drums. Inspect the rubber brake lines as they may be collapsing. Replace the master cylinder. Do all this if it is all necessary and I bet you have good brakes again. Fix the problem or problems and you will not have ineffective brakes.
No. The emergency brake uses the same brakes. It'll be equally ineffective.
It is a warning that the skid control system is not operating, or not operating properly, and may become dangerous in slippery weather if the brakes are sharply applied.
Squeeze your brakes in slow ,steady strokes.
Because to have good brakes you want plenty of friction, and oil is used to reduce friction.
When trying to stop or slow on a slippy road, lightly pump the brakes.
The road surface could be slippery, your brake pads could be worn, your tyres could be worn, your brakes could be faulty.
It is quite likely it is the anti-lock brakes activating. When any wheel loses traction while braking the brakes will be pulsed so that the car will not go into a slide. When driving on slippery roads, you are suppose to pulse your brakes to stop. The antilock system does this for you.
Rim brakes don't work well in the rain, because the rims get slippery when wet. But not all hand brakes are rim brakes. A hand activated drum brake will work just as well in the wet as in the dry.
