I am assuming by your question that you are filing for chapter 7 by yourself. In general, the filing of bankruptcy by one spouse will not affect the other spouse's financial situation. A debt is created by contract between a debtor and a creditor - each debtor must sign the contract to be liable for payment. Therefore, the bankruptcy of one spouse does not cause the other to become bankrupt. However the greatest effect this will have on your wife will be that joint debts (those you and your wife share) will stay with her. I would take some time and look at how much separate debt you have and also what is and is not dischargeble as this is a very big decision. This will also have some effect in the future on your credit that may effect you wife as well.
You can file bankruptcy again 7 years after the last time you filed.
I have file for Chapter 7 twice and it has had no effect on my car insurance.
You can indeed file a chapter seven. However, new bankruptcy reforms will go into effect in October, and it will be much more difficult to file a chapter seven, total liquidation BK.
You can file a chapter 13 bk, but NOT another chapter 7.
You do not have to be unemployed to file bankruptcy.
The bankruptcy petitioner can file another chapter 7 8 years after the date of filing of a previous chapter 7.
For another Chapter 7... 6 years from the date of filing. The date of discharge does not matter. If you want to file a Chapter 13, you can do that immediately after the 7 discharge.
A person can file chapter 7 after 8 years from a previous chapter 7. So the answer is NO.
Yes.
