In some states if you refuse to sign they will arrest you. If other states if you do not sign it makes no difference. Signing the citation is just signifying you got it, and is not an admission of guilt. Sign the citation and then argue the case in traffic court.

No one can make you sign anything. However, in certain contexts, such as signing that you have received a citation, failing to sign could mean the officer arrests you instead.

In most states you can refuse to sign the citation. By singing the ticket you only acknowledge receipt of the violation, it is not a plea of guilt. Nor is it a not guilty plea if one does not endorse the ticket.

Contact your agent or companies policy services dept, they will be able to answer that for you.

While it is unclear what the question is asking, refusing to sign a citation could result in arrest, license suspension, or an additional citation.

Yes you must sign it because you are not signing that you agree to what is written on the citation, just that you received it. and agree to appear the court date.

The defendant cannot change the citation notice before or after they sign it. The issuing authority (usually officer) completes the citation notice.

Since I don't know all the facts, I can only make an assumption. So I'l tell you what happened to me. I was traveling along a through road and a car came through a stop sign from my right without stopping at the sign. The car struck the side of my vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that ran the stop sign and struck my vehicle was issued a ticket for failure to yield. His insurance company wrote me a check for the damages without question. The other driver was at fault. Hope this applies to you.

The cost of a fine for not stopping at a stop sign, will vary depending on where you get ticketed for it. It can run anywhere from $30 to more than $100.

In Oregon and Washington, yes. Your state may vary. There are several additional hoops for the third party to complete before a citation is issued, but it can be done if the third party is willing to complete the footwork.

User Avatar

Yes. The signature usually is only your agreement to appear as required, and it normally prevents you from being arrested. If you believe that the citation should be dismissed then contact the court listed on the citation.

User Avatar

Well a traffic citation for failure to stop at a stop sign or yield is $214, this is the only traffic fine citation that I could find for California. You should always obey traffic sign and drive carefully.

User Avatar

No, if he witnesses the violation, he may send the citation in the mail I believe up to 90 days after the violation occurred.

GENERALLY speaking, the officer certifies the citation with his signature. If there is a specific place for the officer's signature and he did not sign the citation, you may want to ask the court to dismiss the citation. The officer may be allowed to re-issue the citation, but it is fairly likely that specific ticket is not valid.

User Avatar

Why would you not sign the application for insurance. You should do that when you paid for the insurance coverage. I would suggest that you go back to the agency and sign the document.

User Avatar

Contact the court listed on the citation for information. The amount on the citation is set by the court.
