Either. It all depends on the severity of the head gasket leak.
Bad thermostat, plugged radiator, blown head gasket in order of expense.
it is possible for heat from combustion to cause an engine to overheat quickly depending on where the gasket is blown, but i would look for a lack of coolant circulation first. if your coolant is not getting out of the motor and into the radiator it will overheat very quickly.
Blown Head Gasket or Bad Cylinder Head
Blown head gasket or bad radiator cap
it could possibly have either a blown head gasket or intake manifold gaskets leaking
Because the head gasket is blown.
Not very far. If it's only the head gasket your engine should still run but driving it is a very bad idea. with a blown head gasket the coolant channels wont be sealed and you'll lose it all. without coolant the engine would overheat in a matter of minutes.
There are many ways that it can overheat. Coolant loss, blown head gasket, stuck thermostat, clogged radiator ar only a few. You would have to consult a mechanic to know for sure why it is overheating.
NO DO NOT DO THIS. A BLOWN HEAD GASKET WILL LEAK ANTIFREEZE. CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. I AM NOT SURE HOW MUCH IT WILL COST TO BE DONE BY A PROFFESIONAL.
Yes, I blown head gasket will definitely effect the emissions.
most likely would be a leak in the cooling system or a bad thermostat or a bad water pump or posably a blown head gasket. check your oil if it is foamy and a white creamish coler than its the head gasket
