Make sure everything is hooked up then if you have a game put it in and turn it on it should work, if not then you must have not set it up correctly.
when i hooked up my pioneer, i only hooked up essentially what i felt i needed instead of everything. i got power but no sound. i had to ensure that everything was hooked up. dimmer, ant power, illum, etc.

you need to get a PS2 multitap, it allows multiple controllers to be hooked up, its about 20-40 dollars at wal mart
You can run your cable to you DVD/VCR as to have everything hooked up and be able to record if you like from you cable - it is just easier to have everything hooked up. It doesn't have to be on when you are not using it as there are buttons for TV/VCR/DVD etc.

i think it can personally i have an xbox but at my uncles house he has his ps3 hooked up to his hdmi im not quite sure how ...maybe you should ask another question about how to do it
