It depends what you did to remove it. If you simply deleted the file from the Windows Live folder, the registry entries will still be there - thus the computer says you already have it. You need to uninstall it - click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features. Scroll down the list (it should be alphabetically sorted). Find Windows Live messenger and left-click it . Confirm you want to uninstall it, then re-boot your computer onve it's been removed. Once you've re-booted - download Messenger from the internet - and install it.
