You can if they are fairly smooth and do not have very bad ridges or grooves on them. If they do not meet the minimum thickness spec, they should be replaced now. Rotors are cheap (read: made in China); just replace them.
pads
As long as your rotors are not warped, or you have not let the brake pads wear to the point they defaced the rotors, there is no need to change them. Just install new brake pads. Rotors can last the life of the car.
WELL, I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA SUV AND I JUST HAD MY FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND IT COST ME 325.00. If you do it your self it is about 140.00
I went to a local shop today and they charged me $306 just to replace my FRONT brake pads and rotors
According to customer reviews the best brake pads and rotors are EBC brake rotors and pads. They are manufactured in Britain and can be found at any auto store including Canadian Tire in Canada.
Brake calipers are the hydraulic devices that wrap around the rotors and pinch the brake pads into the rotors when you stop.
Some as the pads and rotors break in but it shouldn't be excessive.
Possible wrong rotors???
You do not need a torque wrench when replacing brake pads and rotors. Some of the tools needed to change the rotors and pads are the c-clamp, sockets, wrench, grease, and brake cleaner.
no
When rotors need to be changed usually the pads have worn down. It is always a good idea to change pads when changing rotors.
Brake rotors wear just as brake pads do and when they wear down beyond minimum specs they become unsafe. Good brakes are a # 1 priority.
