I am having a similar problem! I have a 2000 stratus and had the water pump replaced and it idles low. In the mornings (when it is cold) it buckles like it wants to die out, and doesn't change gears smoothly... kind of drags. Just yesterday morning it did the samething, but this time it felt like it was going to just burn out (think of driving a stick shift for the first time) and the check engine light went on. It did this three times that morning, and the check engine light went away as soon as the car stablized. I brought it to AAMCO and they can not find anything wrong with it. I brought it to a different mechanic and they can not find anything wrong either! It's driving me nuts. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 99 Dodge STRATUS, THE TIMING IS STILL OFF A LITTLE BIT. I TOOK IT TWO TECH. AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT WHEN I WANT TOOK IT TO THE DEALSHIPS THEY SAID IT TIMIMG WAS STILL OFF!!!!
The cruise system shares fuses with the engine and brake lights. If the car runs and the brake lights work, it is not a fuse.
check the bulb again, are BOTH filaments good
The switch on the break pedal needs to be adjusted or replaced.
Brake lights could stay on in a 1999 Dodge Stratus because of a short in the wiring. If the headlamps are off and the brake lights are still on, check the wiring for the brake lights that is inside the trunk. Sometimes cargo in the trunk can interfere with the lights.
It could be a blown fuse, or maybe the bulbs need to be replaced. Also check the dash dimming control to make sure it isn't turned all the way down.
try the multifunction switch located on the steering column .
The head lights have nothing to do with the check engine light.
i to also have a 01 alero had the same propblem was told it was the speed sensor replaced it and no more lights i to also have a 01 alero had the same propblem was told it was the speed sensor replaced it and no more lights
try swapping out the relay in the engine bay fuse box
the brake light switch on the brake pedal is bad and needs to be replaced. A $10.50 part at parts store.
Check the stop light switch - usually located at the upper end of the brake pedal under dash area
Of course ,first check the fusebox. If all fuses check out ok, I think the headlight switch is bad. I had a problem with indicator lights and my running lights were not working.(Tail lights,). I tried everything and finally replaced the headlight switch and that fixed it! About $25.00
