One Answer Bacteria grow especially fast on raw chicken and a person can get food poisoning from bad chicken, it should be cooked within 24 hours of being thawed or thrown out. Another Answer If it is sealed away from the air and your fridge temperature is low enough (30-40F) the chicken will be fine for 3 days or so. If you don't plan to use it in this time, freeze it. Always cook poultry fully, salmonella is not fun.

Also an answer: Being left in the fridge for 24 hours is no problem, just try not to take it further than that especially if you have not taken the chicken out of the pack and washed off the blood etc. Always wash in lemon, lime juice or white vinegar before cooking. Sure to kill any bacteria and gets rid of the slime.

Yes, my grandmother never wasted anything. But when she saved chicken it lasted about 5 days and you could still cook it.

You'll have to give it the sniff test. Depending on the packaging and the handling of the chicken before you bought it, it might be OK or it might not. Five days is stretching it.

Answer2: It depends on whether the chicken has started to smell at this point. If it has started to smell, please just toss in the garbage. If not, washing in lemon or lime juice or white vinegar will clean and remove the blood and slime.

It depends on the temperature of the refrigerator and how long the chicken had been dead before you purchased it.

Three days is usually the recommended length of time to leave raw chicken in the refrigerator.

But if it smells good and you cook it very well it will probably be OK.

No. Bacteria would have grown on it and it could make you sick - or worse. So don't eat it!
