It depends....Was it only a matter of the child's last name being changed or did you file a Petition to Adopt the child? For you to be the legal parent of this child, then you would have had to file the necessary court paperwork to adopt the child (i.e. petition for adoption) and the court would have had to enter a decree of adoption (i.e. granted your petition for adoption). If the child's name were changed absent an adoption action and decree then you are not legally responsible to support the child.
At the time the adoption is approved, you have the choice of changing your name to whatever you want. Just have it added to the written decree of adoption that from this time on, your name is now legally [fill in the blank].
Keep on smiling adoption center something like that
Yes, the name change is irrelevant. The exception, would be if the name change was connected to the legal adoption of the minor child.
Gerald R. Ford was legally adopted by his mother's second husband (if that qualifies as an "adoption" for the purposes of this question) It is also how he got the name "Ford."
A legal adoption is required
The closest thing you can do to that is put it up for adoption. If you want to give it to a specific friend then tell your friend the exact time you'll be putting up for adoption and it's exact name. They can then search for this name HOPING that noone else has adopted it before they are able to.
No, but they can write "refused to sign" if they like.
You can give it any name you like. You can give it any name you like. You can give it any name you like. You can give it any name you like.
Not legally unless you file with a court to legally change it. You can use any name you like as a "stage name" (e.g. rap singers) but any documents or contracts that are executed must use your birth name unless you have been granted a legal change.
She did not change her name legally its just a stage name!!
you cant reverse an adoption, whens the babys been handed away, its most likely you wont see them again, the adoption agency isn't allowed to give you the babys new address or new name, its all legal, even if your the birth mother:(x
A legal name is the name that appears on official government documents, such as a birth certificate, passport, or driver's license. It is typically the name that is recognized by law and used for identification purposes.
