Probably cheaper to order a couple of non OEM replacement keys off of EBay and code them yourself.
I don't know how to change the ignition switch but I have some advice. Don't screw with the ignition switch, buy the whole steering column. It will be cheaper and easier to change.
i would change the electrical part of your ignition switch- i would change the electrical part of your ignition switch-
the ign switch or the key & tumbler ???
A faulty ignition coil or module can cause misfiring.
To change the ignition cylinder lock on a 2003 Pontiac Vibe, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Remove the steering column covers by unscrewing the screws and gently prying them apart. Insert the key into the ignition, turn it to the "Run" position, and locate the release tab on the ignition cylinder; press it to release the cylinder. Finally, pull the cylinder out and replace it with the new one, ensuring everything is reassembled correctly.
Hold the oil/trip Reset button while ignition is on (not car) for 8 seconds
Under the cap, inside the distributor, it is easy to change with the distributor off the car, a pain to get to with it on the car.
YES
Wow. There isn't much you can do. It would be cheaper to just by an alarm. I don't believe it is possible to change your ignition, and if you could, I would believe that to be VERY expensive.
You will need to call up your local dealership with your V.I.N. and they can cut you a new key from their master. It's not cheap, approx. $30 to $100, I can't remember exactly, i know that's a wide range but it's in there somewhere. A cheaper way to go is to get an ignition w/key from the wreckers and just change the ignition out and voila you have a new key! Worst case scenario you can do like the delinquents and jam a flat-head in the ignition and use this as your new key. (not recommended)
try turning the ignition key to on (don't start) and depressing the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.
Because when you change the ignition in a firebird you have to use the same key and key lock that was on the original column. If you don
