If you married before divorce final and the second marriage is invalid can you just walk away or would you have to obtain a divorce?

This seems simple enough to me. If the second marriage was invalidated by a court then the marriage is null and void. But if the court has no notion of the invalidity of the second marriage you must file for divorce.
Polygamy is actually a punishable offence, so you may want to be careful how you go about it.
