1.here is information from Microsoft(see link below):If your Xbox 360 console requires repair, it must be returned to a Microsoft service center for service.Note We recommend that you use only Microsoft-approved service centers. Using an unauthorized service center will invalidate the Manufacturer's Warranty, and could exclude your console from future service by Microsoft. Full details of the Manufacturer's Warranty can be found in your Xbox 360 Console Warranty manual.2. I recommend you to get a good Xbox 360 fix guide. You will be able to avoid all the sending cumbersome process and also avoid the long waiting. There are many Xbox 360 fix guides that really easy to understand with step-by-step videos. (see link below)
you don't need the insurance it comes with a 3 year warranty.
its about a 5 year warranty
None. The now-standard 3 year warranty is included with each new Xbox 360 purchase. They track the console by its unique serial and that determines the length of time left on your warranty. If you are out of warranty, you can purchase a warranty extension on that console from Microsoft. 1-800-4MY-XBOX
Use the towel trick. Search it on youtube but only do this if your xbox 360 is out of warranty. If it isin't out of warranty, then send it to Microsoft.

The ONLY way to unban an Xbox 360 (current to date: July 26th 2010) is to have a JTAG Xbox 360. Of course that violates Microsofts EULA and voids your warranty. For more information on JTAGing search google.
It is if you open up your xbox to put it in, which voids your warranty and can break your xbox, although some companies do sell extra ventilation fans that you attach to your xbox withought voiding the warranty.
you can send out your xbox 360 to Microsoft and have them fix it if you still got the warranty if you don't, it will cst you about 150$ to repair it with them
