I am not quite sure what happens when corn starch and iodine are mixed but when corn starch, iodine and water are mixed, it creates a purple solution. The darkness of the colour mostly depends on the iodine. Without the starch with iodine and water, it is deep yellow or brown.

Flour and corn starch are measured the same, but the results aren't always the same.
You will need corn starch, tissues, and a warm (clothing) iron 1. Put corn starch on the oil stain let it sit over night 2. Dab the tissues on the corn starch they will absorb the corn starch and oil 3. If you don't have corn starch put tissues on the oil stain and put a warm iron on the tissues
Take a testube, an eye dropper, corn flake, and iodine. Take the cornflake and put it into a 200 militers bottle boil for five minutes, wait for a while then put idiodine to the starch solution, then take few droplets of snow flakes and put it into the iodine that got mixed with starch solution and there you go.
Starch has high affinity for Iodine and in presence of iodine crystals starch turns blue from being colourless. This the fundamental that is used for chemically identifying the starch.
Crisps are made from potatoes which are very high in starch. When iodine is added to starch it forms a complex with it and results in a purplish color. you get the same thing if you put an iodine sol'n on bread or cornstarch.

When you pore iodine on a piece of bread, the bread will turn black. Why? Because, the iodine has a chemical reaction with the starch in the bread. This method is great to find out if a food contains starch (I suggest a potato to try next!).
