Usually it will make your hair look crispy, and the hairspray will burn. Spray hairspray from arms-length away AFTER you finish straightening your hair.
Your hair will not grow, but will appear longer. Depending on how curly/kinky and long your hair was before straightening...your hair could appear MUCH longer or barely longer at all. Try pulling your curls straight down as far as they go without hurting your scalp. That's about how long.
My hairdresser used this technique on my hair when she was straightening it because she said that it would make my hair stay straight longer and it worked because for two days, I didn't really need to go through my hair and re straighten it as much because it held it straight very well. (Take in note, I have very curly thick hair) but according to some website it says to be careful because hair spray is flammable and with the hot iron, it might burn your hair off.

Doubt it. The longer hair gets, the straighter it gets. They're probably just straightening their hair... :D
Gel.
well, you could have it slightly longer than hayley's? after or before straightening your hair, put a hair gel in it that is made to keep your hair straight all day or if you want a bit of wave to, pleat it the night before then go to bed and you wake up with really nice waves and they stay in all day with a bit of hairspray cos i have hair like yours and it works nicely for me (:
Gel
The myth of individuals not being able to pull their hair up after chemically straightening it, is false. The chemicals simply enable the individual to have straight hair that can be styled as normal.
You dont need hairspray. But with hairspray the tease will look 5x better and will stay 5x longer depending on the ammount used.
Hairspray has pretty much stayed the same since it was invented in the 1940s except chlorofluorocarbon compounds are no longer used since they discovered it can destroy the ozone. Hairspray is toxic and flammable.
hair gel holds it in place for a longer period of time but it makes your hair very hard and gives it a greasy kind of look sometimes and hairspray gives it a more natural look.
The only way it affects the length of your hair is that it appears to be longer when it is completely straightened.
