Each state has its own definition of when benefits terminate. Check with your state's employment security office for clarification.
When I moved from Massachusetts to NC in 1990 I was not able to collect due to the fact that I left my job in Mass voluntarily and was not laid off. If you were laid off in RI you might be able to collect but you should have opened a unemployment claim in RI first. <><> If you weren't already collecting it in Rhode Island, nor were eligible to, you also cannot collect in in North Carolina because it is not the "liable" state, in which you had a work history.
You can probably not collect unemployment as you violated the terms of your employment. It doesn't matter that you hadn't missed any time up until now.
No, the way I read this is that you still have a job so you aren't unemployed only have a furlough. It will take you 6-8 weeks before you got any money if you could and you'll be back to work. Not all people have vacation time in many jobs and that doesn't give the right to unemployment.
until you get another job.
The Unemployment Compensation provisions have undergone many changes through the years; and, the procedures for qualifying for eligibility have been revised as well, varying in one manner or another from state to state. The best resource you have is the local unemployment office for the state in which you now reside. If it is different from that where you were laid-off, you are still considered unemployed until you attain employment status; and, if you expect to be considered eligible for benefits, you need to meet their criteria, the first part of which is registration. It is not customarily a mandatory provision for receiving unemployment benefits that you refrain from changing your residence to anywhere other than out-of-country or prison, in which case you would no longer qualify.Interstate Unemployment BenefitsYes, you can continue to collect benefits from the state in which you originally filed your claim. Unemployment benefits are not public assistance, you worked for it, it is your money.Your new state of residency does not pay the benefits, they will come from the state in which you were eligible, but you will still need to follow the requirements for eligibility.Contact the office of the state agency that handles unemployment benefits in the state where you relocate as soon as possible to avoid a delay in receiving your benefits.
You can continue to collect for the designated number of weeks as long as you continue to apply for jobs and submit your weekly reports to the unemployment office as required. It would be wise to discuss your "condition" with them as it may change the scope of your job search.
Yes, you can collect unemployment insurance if you have worked in Hawaii but moved to California. Even if you think you do not have enough in Hawaii's unemployment insurance to collect. I worked in California all my life and was offered a job in Hawaii in October 2008. I worked until March 2009 and then tried to collect while i lived in Hawaii. I was denied befits in Hawaii in March 2009, so I moved back to California and could not find work so i collected unemployment in California. It was a knowledgeable person in California EDD that recommended that i file in Hawaii versus California because of the amount i would collect there was a lot more than i collected here. I told them I was denied benefits over there because i did not work long enough over there (hence; i did not put enough money in Hawaii's Kitty) So California's EDD said they would transfer what I put in California's unemployment insurance to Hawaii's unemployment insurance, then that would make me eligible to collect.
yes absolutly! call edd 1-800-300-5616 (THATS THE # IN CA) and follow the prompts to file a claim and your done. It will take some time to get thru especially with whats going on these days. be prepared to dial, redial, again, again, over & over until you get thru. Just do it!
The term pink slip refers to the act of firing an employee or letting the employee go. When one gets a "pink slip" one can collect unemployment benefits until he can get another job.
