The "love handles" are just excess fat, stored under the skin. To lose them you need to lose some fat(and weight) all over.And when it comes to burning calories, what you do isn't that important. How hard and for how long you go at it however is real important.Basically everything that get you equally sweaty and winded will use up the same amounts of calories.
