yes.
Spiders are able to climb walls because of tiny hooks on the ends of their legs. Spiders have hundreds of thousands of tiny hairs on their feet. There is an electrostatic force between each of these hairs and the surface it touches. It is very small but multiply that by hundreds of thousands and you have a charge big enough to stick to any surface , no matter how smooth.
I saw this too, also in north east pa. I see you have no answers.I canot find an answer either. I am so upset. It built a web in front of our back door .The security light came on so I saw it clearly. It was terrifying. I saw exactly what you did. I hope someone can identify it soon.

The green bug with long legs that I saw in my garden yesterday is called a praying mantis.
No they can't. Nearly all animals with eyes can blink otherwise their eyeballs would just dry up and they would become blind but as spiders don't have eyelids this means that there is nothing to blink with so they must have some other way to keep their eyes moist.
No He dosent save his legs in one picture i saw he was wearing shorts
There is no rule that says the name of a creature must be based on how many legs it has. Spiders have been around a long time- I doubt that the first person who saw one counted its legs- would you? A better question might be , "Why was the octopus so named? " -- I would guess, that being a sea creature, far removed from most people, it did not have a name when it was first seen by man, so somebody made up a name for it and chose to focus on its eight legs to choose its name.
The farmer saw two cows and two chickens. Each cow has one head, four legs, and one tail, and each chicken has one head, two legs, and one tail.
